The small print

• Should you wish to transfer your entry to another runner you can do so by logging in to your FR Systems account (link in your confirmation email) to amend the details and transfer your place. All transfers should be made before online entries close on 3 May 2026.
• Race numbers and timing chips must be collected from the registration desk in the hall in Shinfield Infant & Nursery School on the day by 09:00am. Instructions for the day will be emailed to you once you have registered.
• Strictly NO Personal Stereos/MP3 players/iPods or similar devices to be worn whilst running; this will result in disqualification.
• For safety reasons, no dogs, buggies, pushchairs or wheelchairs are allowed. 
• If race organisers cancel the race refund details will be confirmed at the time.
• Must be aged 15 or over on the day of the race.
• Your data will be passed to the first aid team for potential use during the event.

Shinfield Junior Cross Country Races

From 11:45am Monday 4th May 2026

The Junior Cross Country Races are on Langley Common, which is a 5-minute walk from School Green. They are across the rough alluvial pasture and flood plain alongside the River Loddon, so may well be wet and slippery underfoot, and the grass will be long because of University of Reading experiments with rough pasture and wild flowers. There will also be potholes caused by cattle. The races are not chip-timed, and SMS results will not be available.

• 11.45am      Blue race - Ages 4,5,6  – 2.1k, two laps.
• 12.15pm     Green race - Ages 7,8,9 – 2.1k, two laps.
• 12.45pm     Red race – Ages 10,11,12  – 3.1k, 3 laps.
• 12.45pm     Yellow race – Ages 13,14,15 –  4.1k, 4 laps.

Entry is £6 per runner in advance or £8 on the day, subject to a limit of 400 runners. All junior runners receive a medal.One adult only may run with any child in the Blue race

Ages 4,5,6. Children aged 7 or older may not be accompanied. Headphones must not be worn during the race.

 If the organisers cancel any or all of the Junior races, refund details will be confirmed at the time. 

Runners should pick up their numbers from the school hall of Shinfield Infant & Nursery School no later than 30 minutes before the start of their race. Full instructions will be emailed out to runners once they have entered.
