About Us

The Twilight Walk first took place in 2010 to symbolise 10 years since Irene Thompson, a much loved Mum and Granny, passed away with non-hodgkins lymphoma. The 'Thompson' family consisting of locals - Yvonne King, Claire Cardno, Allyson King, Sandra Morrison, Susan Morrison, Laura Morrison and Angie Shearer and her family from Huntly along with the support of many friends, wanted to organise a special event in her memory and the Twilight Walk was born!

Why Cancer Research UK?

The Shearer and Thompson families have been fundraising for Cancer Research UK since 2001 after losing their much loved 'Granny Thompson', and in more recent years, Auntie Sandra Morrison, and Uncle Ian Thompson to cancer. As a family we have organised 8 Relay For Life events and this year will be our 11th Twilight Walk event in aid of Cancer Research UK's life saving work to find new and kinder treatments and cures for cancer. Over the past 20 years we have raised over £930,000 and we really want to hit the £1 Million target in 2020 in memory of Granny Thompson, Sandra and Ian, but also in celebration of all those that have survived cancer and towards the day when all cancers are cured!
