Raising money for Charity:
In the last 34 years the New Forest Marathon has donated over £1.25 million to support over 100 local good causes and community groups. To help this pot grow we have set up the New Forest Marathon Community Fund. We aim to get as many runners as possible to run for this cause but we recognise that you may have other charities close to your heart, if this is the case we encourage you to donate the first £10.00 of sponsorship to the New Forest Marathon Community Fund to help support the local community groups and inspire healthy projects in the forest and surrounding areas.

You can find out more about the New Forest Marathon Community Fund on the fundraising page of the website.

You can make a donation in a number of ways:

1, You can donate at any time on local giving by clicking the link below.

www.localgiving.com/newforestmarathon

2, If you want to run to raise money for us or wish to fund-raise for us simply click on the link and select 'fundraise for us' at the bottom of the page.

3, Anyone can make a donation at any time via Text Donate by texting TREE29 followed by £ sign and the amount you want to donate e.g. TREE29£5 to 70070

A text reply will confirm your donation to HIWCF at which point you can choose to add gift aid. 'HIWCF' stands from Hampshire and Isle of Wight Community Foundation who manage the fund.

4, We have added an option on the entry page of the race booking process where you can simply add the amount you wish to donate to the fund. After checkout the amount you've entered will go straight to the Community Fund.

This year we have raised over £20,000 and funded over 20 projects helping hundreds more people to get active.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for their support in helping to make a difference in out local community.

Charity Helpers:
The marshals and helpers on the course mostly represent the community groups that you are raising money for. Feel free to ask them how the marathon has helped them in the past.

First Time Runners:
All routes share the same start and finish experience, we have designed it this way to inspire runners to progress to the next level in the following years. It also allows you to share the experience with your friends and family, even if you are doing different distances. If this is your first major run, we recommend the Half Marathon as the Full Marathon can be quite challenging.

Refunds:
Full refunds will be available within 14 days of purchase, following this we are unable to offer refunds if you do not run. However there is a deferral option please see FAQ's on the event website.

Wheelchairs, Cyclists, Child buggies and Dogs:
Regrettably our courses are not currently suitable for wheelchair access so we cannot accept wheelchair entries at this stage.
Cyclists, Child buggies, Dogs are not permitted to accompany runners in the race. We are however looking to develop these areas in the future.

Headphones:
Although not recommended, personal stereos, IPods & mp3 players can be used at the 2017 New Forest Marathon Event. Please read the following advice:
The New Forest Marathon Team follow UKA standards and strongly advise that you DO NOT wear in ear headphones or use audio devices during the race for your own safety, especially on road sections. However, we endorse the use of Aftershokz as this provides a safe solution allowing participants to hear their surroundings as well as their music. In 2017 although NOT RECOMMENDED, there will be no disqualification for use of audio devices.
